Program Description: The IOG’s primary mission is to increase the effectiveness and quality of government in Florida through its research, training, and technical assistance. The Institute of Government in Southwest Florida has been housed at Florida Gulf Coast University since 1998, and was administered through Edison Community College from 1984 – 1998. FGCU and ECC have since formed a working partnership and provide a seamless approach to meet the professional development and research needs of the public sector in our service area.
