Program Description: An affiliate of the Florida Institute of Government, the Askew Institute seeks to assist the citizens of Florida in examining the critical issues facing Florida and in assessing ways to address them. The programs of the Institute are designed to deepen and broaden the thinking of participants and policy leaders in Florida and to aid them in making decisions that will enhance the future of our state. Each year the Institute convenes an annual meeting which is organized to promote a dialogue among citizens and policy leaders about the critical issues facing the state and the ways in which Floridians can respond to them. The Askew Institute seeks first to reexamine the enduring ideas and traditions that have shaped the state and the nation and to remind participants of their fundamental importance in developing solutions to modern day problems that confront Florida.
